Hike-in Equipment List

Hiking-in campouts require carrying all equipment on your back to reach the campsite, so the gear must be lighter, more compact, and carefully chosen for essentials only. Don’t let perfect be the enemy of getting out on the trail. For tents, we don’t buy the lightest, most expensive. We take a normal four-man tent and split it up between three trailmen (poles, tent, tarp and/or rain fly)

Personal Equipment

  • Food: We will plan this as a patrol, but individuals are responsible for bringing the food they are responsible for.

  • Small amount of toilet paper (wrapped up in a bag to stay dry)

  • Bedding
    • Sleeping Bag

      • (this replaces a sleeping bag and is lighter, but is not required)

      • (not as important with a sleeping bag, but helps insulate when using a quilt)
  • Clothes (Dressing in layers is very important, rather than relying on a single thick coat. We don’t take very many extras, so this is what to wear.)
